PWDs RECEIVE FUNDS FOR UPKEEP, FOR EDUCATION & BUSINESS

On Thursday, 30th May, 2024 the District’s Social Welfare & Community Development Dep’t. disbursed funds to beneficiaries from the disability community from across the district. This formed part of the government’s periodic release of funds for the purposes of dignified living of PWDs.

 

The funds were also for PWDs to support their education, skills development needs as well as to conduct business ventures for sustainable incomes to support PWDs lead independent lives. The total number of beneficiaries was 54 comprising 23 females and 11 males.

For those who applied and got qualified under the income generation component of the disbursement, an amount of 61, 200 Ghana Cedis was disbursed to them while three other beneficiaries all together got 2,000.00 Ghana Cedis for their registration and training at the Bolgatanga Rehabilitation Centre. Also, another beneficiary and a student at the Wa School for the Blind, got 1,000 Cedis education support.
Meanwhile, two PWDs from the Nakolo community also got their fees paid for them at the Tongo School for the Deaf.
