The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has pledged to give the necessary official backing to Assemblies in the region to follow the requisite processes to gazette their sanitation bye-laws.
The Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Mohammed Issahaku made the pledge on behalf of the regional minister this Thursday morning when he received two separate documents containing the said bye-laws from the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly and Bongo District Assembly.
District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, Hon. Stephen Akurugo who led his Assembly’s team to the meeting at the RCC noted that, the assemblies urgently need these documents gazetted so as to help in the effective implementation and enforcement of sanitation bye-laws in their jurisdictions. This he believes, will be a catalyst for total environmental cleanliness in the districts including public, business and private premises which should drastically cut down on the occurrence and spread of avoidable diseases.
The Reg. Coord. Director, speaking for the Upper Regional Minister, assured the assemblies that, the documents would be forwarded to the State Attorney for perusal and technical inputs after which, feedback will be communicated to the Assemblies on the next necessary steps.
