The program which was held at the Paga Motel sought to create the awareness among relevant stakeholders of the 2021 population and housing census which is slated to start on 27th Jane to 11th July 2021.
District Chief Executive of Kassena Nankana West, Gerald Ataogye who was the main speaker in occasion, admonished participants to spread the news about the census for everyone to understand the purpose of the census and make themselves available to be counted.
Mr. Ataogye, pleaded with the media to help sensitize the populace and champion the benefits of the census by helping to stop any misinformation and untruthful or controversial materials that has the likelihood of affecting the smooth conduct of the exercise.
District Census Officer, Mr Abass Mohammed Yikinsah, who addressed participants indicated that, persons on transit and in short-stay institutions such as hotels, guest houses and hospital in-patients will also be counted on this night.
He added that, the enumeration of persons in households and long-stay institutions will be enumerated from 28th June to 11th July.
He said, it is important for everyone to remember the Census Night because they will be counted according to where they spend the Census Night in Ghana.
The launch of the 30 days countdown to the census night had in attendance representatives from prison service, custom service, Ghana immigration service, assembly members of the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly, political parties, traditional leaders, market men and women, Ghana Education service, Ghana Health Service, religious leaders, the media and other security services in the Kassena Nankana West District.
