Kassena-Nankana West District assembly relocates to new office block

The Kassena-Nankana West District has moved to a new office complex located at Zenga. The new edifice is equipped with about 25 office spaces. There are 15 offices below, while the remaining 10 are on the top floor.

In addition to the client service arena within the block, the facility also has a conference hall with a little over 100-seat capacity, which is more than enough for the assembly’s 66-member General House; 46 of them were elected and the other 20, appointed.

District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, Gerard Ataogye, noted that the Assembly faced the challenge of working in a congested office space since it was carved out of the then Kassena-Nankana District in 2007. KNWD was inaugurated on February 29, 2008.

He added that the congestion caused management to later rent a domestic property at Paga Hill Top and another to house some fragmented departments of the Assembly. According to him, the practise negatively impacted the work of the assembly.

Mr. Ataogye heaped lots of praise on the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for awarding the Assembly Block project in September 2018 and for following through with the regular release of funds for its completion.

He said being in the new block alone is enough motivation, and that he expects a lot more from his officers.

Mr. Ataogye also commended the seven paramount chiefs within the district’s jurisdiction for their continuous and wise counsel and hoped such mutual collaboration would continue.

The DCE was impressed with the progression of work on the government’s agenda 111 project.

“I passed by there yesterday to realise the contractor had brought roofing materials, among others,” he added.
