The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has presented a total of 67 motorbikes to be distributed to all Assembly members in the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly of the Upper East Region.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Gerard Ataogye who handed over the bikes to the Presiding Member Hon. Eric Akurugu indicated that the gesture forms part of the local government’s commitment towards empowering and equipping the various Assembly members as a means of deepening democracy at the grassroots level.
“I know this will help you be mobile and I am confident that each and everyone of you will use this motorbikes without trouble. I am really proud of you and I know that whatever you are doing as an assembly member you will get your rewards in hundred folds because of what you are doing for the people of Kassena Nankana West District”.
He however charged the beneficiaries to ensure that they acquire the needed riding documentations and work towards maintaining discipline in line with maintaining these motorbikes.
On the part of the beneficiaries, the presiding member said the intervention is timely and would help in the delivering of their various duties.
