The District Disability Fund Management Committee of the Community Development and Social Welfare of the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly under took a four–day monitoring exercise across the three zones of the district to monitor seventy two (72) individuals (People with Disability, PWDs) who received funds from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) on the 10th day of March 2020 to embark on various economic and other activities to improve upon their living standards and that of their families
A total number of fifty four (54) People with Disability were visited in the following communities. Kakungu, Bisawo, Gware, Zenga, Babile, Chania, Nania, Baloo, Kayilo, Kajelo Nyania, Nabio, Nakolo, Tazika, Navio, Badunu, Wugingo, Bembisi Nidongo, Kandiga, Basengo, Gunwoko, Mirigu, Nyagolingo, Kurugo, Asa-Songo, Longo, Wolgum, Akadaka, Azeremah, Azizoka, Bugsongo, Yidania, Kalvio, Nayemnia, Gwenia, Nakong, Gugoro, Katiu Saa, Saboro, Kafania, Achonngnia and Chiana Nyangnia.
The main objectives of the four day monitoring include the following; Follow up on activities for which funds was accessed and utilization according to its intended purpose; Provide assistance on management of funds to address some early warning signs that might affect their businesses; Check on the intended benefits being derived by beneficiaries and Help fix identifiable challenges that might have emerged in the process of implementation.
Also, the committee recommended that, beneficiaries should be given business management/marketing training to explore other avenues, instead of sticking to the original plans that may not be viable.
