The Art Department of Chiana Senior High School (CHIANASCO), located in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, has given its space a new look with beautiful mural paintings. This rebranding is aimed at making the department more attractive, engaging, and appealing to both students and visitors. Led by dedicated art educators Mr. Jason Opoku Appah and Mr. Abdul Ganim, the project seeks to make the department more attractive and visually engaging for both students and visitors. The beautifully crafted murals, created with passion and purpose, are a demonstration to the power of art in shaping minds, transforming spaces,
and telling powerful stories. While the colorful facelift has drawn admiration, the department is also using this initiative as a platform to draw attention to pressing infrastructural needs. Currently, the building housing the Art Department is in dire need of support. Many of the windows are broken, and the absence of ceiling fans makes it difficult to provide a conducive learning environment, especially during the hot seasons.
“We’ve rebranded with art not just to beautify our space, but to send a message—that art has the power to spark change,” said Mr. Jason Opoku Appah. “Our next step is to fix the windows, install ceiling fans, and make this place more comfortable for teaching and learning.”
“This is about building the future,” added Mr. Abdul Ganim. “When we invest in the environment where students learn, we invest in their dreams and the impact they can have on the world.” Chiana Senior High School remains one of the beacons of academic and creative excellence in the Upper East Region. This initiative by the Art Department is a bold indication that education is not just about textbooks—it’s also about nurturing talent, sparking creativity, and shaping visionary leaders.
